Who writes these guides

FIVOR's guides are researched and written in-house. We are not clinicians, and we do not present ourselves as any. What we do is read the primary literature, quote it accurately, and label the strength of the evidence behind every claim.

Where a guide describes a clinical recommendation, it names the guideline or trial it comes from so you can check it yourself.

Which sources we use

  • Clinical practice guidelines — principally the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy Heel Pain–Plantar Fasciitis: Revision 2023, published by the orthopaedic section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Peer-reviewed trials and tissue studies, cited by author, journal and year.
  • Clinician-authored guidance for practical technique, clearly identified as clinical opinion rather than trial evidence.
  • Patient community reports, used only to describe lived experience — never as evidence of efficacy.

How we grade evidence

  • Strong — supported by a clinical practice guideline or multiple controlled trials agreeing.
  • Moderate — supported by controlled trials with real limits: small samples, short follow-up, or mixed results.
  • Weak — plausible mechanism, thin or conflicting human evidence.
  • Unsupported — commonly repeated, not backed by good evidence.

Claims we never make

  • That any product cures, treats or heals a medical condition.
  • That anything is "clinically proven". The guideline we cite covers clinician-delivered therapy, not self-treatment and not any product.
  • Statistics without a named source, or review counts and ratings we cannot evidence. FIVOR currently publishes no customer reviews, so none appear in our structured data.
  • Manufactured urgency — countdowns, invented stock levels, fake scarcity.

When we say a product is wrong for you

We sell a wooden foot roller. We also publish that firm rollers are contraindicated for feet with reduced sensation, including diabetic neuropathy, because a user who cannot feel pressure cannot feel an injury developing. Several of our guides tell specific readers not to buy the product. That is deliberate.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct the page and update its "last updated" date rather than quietly editing it. If you spot an error, email support@fivors.com and tell us which page and which claim.

Commercial disclosure

FIVOR sells one product. Our guides mention it rarely and never as the thesis of an article. We run no affiliate links and take no payment for coverage.

Medical disclaimer

Everything on this site is general education, not medical advice. Persistent foot pain should be assessed by a qualified clinician.
